Night of the Nakba: Fishermen they Were
This oil on canvas painting was inspired by the Palestinian Fishermen from the city of AKKa/Acre in Palestine. I thought of the fishermen who went into the sea one night in the summer of 1948, but they were not able to return to their city because the city was occupied by Israel. They ended up being refugees in neighboring countries. My hope is that viewers will be inspired to educate themselves on the Palestinian tragedy, and end up sympathizing with the grievances of the Palestinian people. A subject matter as this had to be done on a large canvass and with the depth of bright oil paints.
